Important information for players
1. You DO NOT have to arrive at the beginning of your time slot -- you can show up at any time during the window corresponding to your last name. Just make sure to allow enough time to get checked in and warmed up.
2. The LAST DAY TO REGISTER is Saturday, January 18. There will be NO WALK-UP REGISTRATION at assessments. Registration must be completed ONLINE and NO LATER THAN the January 18 closing date.
3. We will NOT be holding a MAKE-UP assessment date.
4. In case of rain, assessments will be rescheduled for Saturday, February 1.
5. Players who are league-age 5-7 DO NOT need to assess. Players who are league-age 8 AND registered for Farm DO NOT need to assess.
A player's LEAGUE AGE is his/her age on August 31, 2025.
Assessments are MANDATORY for all players who are league-age 9-12. Assessments are also MANDATORY for all players who are league-age 8 and registered for minors. Players should bring their glove and cleats and wear warm, athletic clothing. Players should also bring their bat and helmet if they have them. Atascadero Little League will have bats and helmets available at assessments for those who need them. During assessments, each player will run through a quick series of drills -- hitting, throwing, running, pitching. With check-in, warm-ups, plus the actual assessment, families can expect to spend roughly 1 hour at assessments.
Be aware that registering a player for a particular division does not guarantee that he or she will play in that division. Players in the Minors and Majors divisions are drafted onto teams, and assessments are used by Atascadero Little League to ensure that players are drafted into the appropriate division. For example, most 8-year-olds will be placed in the Farm division, but those 8-year-olds who are registered for Minors MIGHT be drafted into Minors (if there is room on a team AND their assessment score warrants such consideration). Similarly, most 10-year-olds will be drafted onto a team in Minors, but those 10-year-olds who are registered for Majors MIGHT be drafted into Majors (if there is room on a team AND their assessment score warrants such consideration). For this reason, 10-year-olds who are registered for Majors will assess TWICE: first on the minors field and then on the majors field.
